Adjust Your Set appoints Asare Simms to create short film for new Youth State project.
As part of Adjust Your Set’s new research project, Youth State, London-based multimedia company Asare Simms have produced a film that probes the issue of identity amongst young people.
Each publication of Youth State will be accompanied by a short film that interrogates the title subject of the report from the perspective of creative minds within the 16-24 age bracket.
For the inaugural report, we have been lucky enough to work with Shaneika Johnson-Simms (22) and Raphael Boamah-Asare (23), co-founders of Asare Simms. The duo collaborated with Adjust Your Set to bring their own interpretation of identity to our research, producing a thoughtful, touching piece of content that is both creative and insightful. The film sees Tommy confiding in his father about how his friends treat him, and what this has made him realise about the person he wants to be. Johnson-Simms and Boamah-Asare say: ‘Identity to us is the choices you make as they are the true indicator to who you are regardless of age, gender and race’.
Other examples of their work include ‘Doll Factory’ and ‘To Dear Charlie’. Watch these films and read more about Asare Simms here.
